A Letter to My Best Friend – 5 Years

March 4, 2017

Victoria Nicole,

For the past 5 years, I have had the privilege of being your husband, and standing by your side through many low valleys and mountain peaks. You are the love of my life, my best friend, my accountability, my biggest cheerleader, the mother of my son and the only person who knows how and when to push me to be a better husband, father, son, friend, man and human being.

I still vividly remember you walking down the aisle 5 years ago and your radiating beauty as both of our eyes met each other, filled with tears. As I think about it now, I can feel my heart beat strong and fast, just like it did that day.

Since then, I have found this clarity and purpose in life and my pursuit of Christ and you have played the largest role in showing me this, beyond Jesus.

I cannot convey my gratitude accurately enough in writing or speech for what you have done for me, nor do I feel I ever will be able to. The only way I know how to show you my gratitude is to live every day pursuing Christ more heavily, pursing you more intimately, leading our family more honorably and to try and leave a greater, Christ-like and more humble impact on this world.

I can truthfully say, I still find this excitement with you that I have only found in pursuing Jesus. This shows me God’s incredible plan every day and how He coordinated ALL of this for you and I, to show us His true purpose in marriage.

Here’s to a lifetime full of happiness, laughing, struggle, scraped knees, crying and adventure with you by my side, every step of the way.

Love,

Ian
