Three of our close friends had birthdays recently. Two of them were turning a quarter of a century and the other 26, so we decided to celebrate them all together with a big birthday bash. The weather has been incredible lately, so we decided to have the party in our backyard with plenty of room for outdoor games.
We wanted it to be low-key, but still have an eclectic feel. I asked Ian to build a large farmhouse table that would be low to the ground, so that we could all sit on the grass around it. He built the top out of old weathered wood we already had and then we used cinderblocks for the bases. We then scattered random blankets, pillows and fabric around to give it that eclectic style. We also stacked wood pallets to make smaller tables.
Since everything was outdoors and at night, we wanted to make sure there was plenty of soft lighting. Ian put 8′ stakes in the ground and attached strands of lights, which you can find here, to the tops around nails he hammered in. I added fresh wild flowers, branches and made some garland to run down the table. Then added pillar candles and clear wine bottles with candle sticks to add height and additional lighting.
We had a wonderful time celebrating our friends. You can see the pictures from the night below.
I am so grateful for great friends and for beautiful nights of relaxation.
Have a fabulous day!
