When we started planning to take a trip to New York in the fall, we knew it would be chilly, but not as chilly as it turned out to be. Averages were in the 50’s and the Friday after we got there ended up being a high of 32 degrees… Most of the day with the wind, it felt like it was in the 20’s. Although we were bitter cold, we made the most of the day, shielding the weather in cozy cafes and museums. We took Uber here and there and the subway most of the time. I will be sharing more of our itinerary on Wednesday.
After a pretty large breakfast at Black Seed in Soho, we wandered through some shops and down to Chelsea Market. We ended up eating lunch pretty late and took the subway up near the Rockefeller Center to see it at sunset. That ended up being a total fail because the line was astronomically long, so we popped into the cutest french bistro for a late lunch called Le Bonne Soup. I normally plan most of our restaurants in advance, so this was totally impromptu but perfect. It was extremely cozy and the food was delicious – perfect place to have a cup of coffee and some chocolate mousse after the French onion and tomato soup we both had.
Since it was a pretty sunny day, despite it being bitterly cold, I told Ian I wanted to stroll through Central Park to see the fall leaves. I’ve been in the spring and summer, but never in the fall and I knew it had to be magical. We braved the cold long enough to walk through and see some different areas of the park, and I was right, it was magical. It’s now my favorite time of year in Central Park. The colors were beautiful and everything had a golden hue to it. After freezing for a little while, we headed back to Soho for a movie since we never watch movies in theaters because we have a toddler, and this was our “babymoon”. It was actually a great way to spend the freezing night.
I received some new glasses from Glasses USA right before the trip and was so glad I had them. I didn’t think I would need them since fall days are usually more grey, but it was so sunny and they were perfect protection from my eyes. I really have been making a better effort to wear glasses year round, not just in the summer. I know even on the cloudy days, UV rays can be damaging. You can shop mine here.
I also received the perfect oversized sweater from Chicwish. It’s not maternity, but it’s sizing made it perfect for hiding my little 20-week bump here. I paired it with some stretchy jeans and over the knee boots. Everything is linked below.
I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend with your families and friends! xx
