Christmas Eve Vibes

Today is Christmas Eve! I slept in past 8:00. The house is clean. My bed is made. That itself is a Christmas miracle. We are getting ready for all the Christmas festivities tonight and tomorrow. If you remember from our last Christmas post, I promised to share some photos of my colorful tree. Well, here it is! I made the garland from pom pom puffs and twine and then added some from felt ornaments with a mixture of balls. We ended up putting it in our bedroom since its more eclectic and we LOVE the smell of fresh trees.    Here are some more photos of the rest of the house decorated for Christmas. And since I told you my bed was made, I thought I would show that off a little bit. Ian finished both nightstands and we added a rug to give it a more urban feel.   Enjoy today with your loved ones! Merry Christmas Eve!

Christmas Cheer

So…it’s been a while… And although I should say I am sorry. I can’t. I have been soaking up life. Working. Sick. And spending time with the ones that mean most. But I am back:) I thought I would share a little bit of the Christmas cheer going on in our house. I skipped out on the red and green this year and decided to go with more neutral tones. We also bought a live mini-tree that I will share with you soon. I decided to throw all the color on that tree, and it might be my favorite! I’ve loved doing things a little more simple. It’s more time to spend together and it makes things a little less cluttered.            I will be back soon with more Christmas cheer! xoxo

A Place to Dream

Last fall, we asked our friends to build us a bed similar to the beautiful one they built for their own room. This past weekend, we finally moved it in to our master bedroom. I couldn’t be more in love. It turned out so much better than I had even imagined. Since we were getting a new bed, we decided to upgrade from our queen to a king mattress. Although the cuddling was good for some time in our queen, I don’t think I could ever go back. Here are a few pictures of the bed after we moved it in. Stay tuned for more projects and additions to our bedroom.

Sprucing Up For Easter

Easter is one of the best times of the year! Winter starts to fade away, your plants start to bloom, and there are bunnies and lambs in every department store. It brings me so much joy. I don’t decorate too much, but I do love to spruce up the house with some springy accents.   I hope you all have a wonderful week!

Merry & Bright – The perfect holiday party booth

Every year since we have been married, Ian and I have enjoyed hosting a small Christmas party at our house. We usually require for everyone to dress up some how and this year we thought we would bring back the Tacky Christmas Sweaters. Since we don’t do a white elephant or ornament exchange we create a small area upstairs to do a photo booth. In the two years we’ve done it, it has not failed to bring lots of laughs and holiday cheer out of everyone. This year. We took two hideously awesome green chairs from the Goodwill as our seating. Since we didn’t want to spend a lot of money, we bought rolls of brown packaging paper from the Dollar Store and hung it in strips all across the back wall. Ian hung old vintage lights from my Grandma’s Christmas tree across the paper and we had the perfect vintage set up. The props were all random items we either had in our house or things we borrowed from my mother-in-laws drama prop closet. We also added a Shake…

A Very Merry Christmas

Christmas is my favorite time of the year. Between all the parties, family, and cheer I also get to transform my home into miniature winter wonderland. When we started our family two years ago, I was really excited about decorating for Christmas. But when I actually started putting the decorations up, I realized it was more than just making your home look beautiful. It was about the memories and traditions that come along with it. I love to see how other people transform their home through the holidays. Each ornament or decoration has a special meaning or memory behind it. As Ian and I decorate, I think about the items that people have given us, that we got from an ornament exchange, or just the fun in putting it all up together while listening to Frank Sinatra and Big Band Music. With that being said, here is a small tour of our home at Christmas. Every year, Ian and I go through the back yard and trim our trees and tie the branches together for the garland inside. As messy…
