Can we have a pumpkin patch in our backyard?

One of my favorite traditions every year is to go to the pumpkin patch. We started doing it before we had children, and now it’s even more fun watching Cove want every kind of pumpkin they have! You can see years past here and here. This past weekend we found a new pumpkin patch to visit that had farm animals, hay rides, bounce houses, ice cream / snacks, and lots of pumpkins varieties. I love the Fairytale and Casperia pumpkin ones, so it was just perfect. Cove had so much fun this year and wanted to take all the pumpkins…

Lets Be Honest Mamas: Postpartum and other Real Talk

It’s been a minute, but I am so excited to be teaming up with the Lets Be Honest Mamas crew again to talk about motherhood and all the sticky beautiful messes in between. Kacie Ellis of www.elementsofellis.com (which by the way is so awesome) put everything together and asked me to join this month and I am so so excited. You might think I am a little weird for being excited to talk about postpartum, but I have been wanting to talk about it on the blog for a while now, but just haven’t been able to form my thoughts into a…

Hearts Like Wildflowers | Flourishing In the Most Broken of Places

I drive by this field almost every single day. There’s nothing special about it, and it’s not a particularly stunning drive. Ever so often though, a group of wildflowers will spring up. It happens when I least expect it and they don’t typically hang around all that long. But when I drive by and see them, it always reminds me of the beauty in the simplest of things, in the ugliest of places. I remember Ian being out of town last year for a week. It was his first time being away from Cove and me for that long and…

National Taco Day Round Up and The Bag that Makes Mom Life a Breeze

There was absolutely no way I could let National Taco Day slip by without giving you a round-up of some of my all-time favorite taco places. If you’re not in Georgia, it’s okay! I am going to include some of my favorite Taco Recipes too! Tacos have been a long-time favorite in our house. When we were in San Diego last year, it took everything in me to not eat them every single meal, and we often have to barter on not going to eat Mexican food for date night… I have a little bit of an obsession. We even…

Fair Family Date Night

This past weekend we went on a little impromptu family date night to the Fair here in North Georgia. I wasn’t sure if Cove would like it or not, but Ian and I hadn’t been in years and the funnel cakes were calling our name. We had such a blast! Cove found this fun, huge organ that played carnival-like music and we ate in front of it while he danced around. We got up and danced with him like crazy people. He would stop long enough to eat a bite and then keep dancing. The fair was a lot bigger…

Thoughts on Things: Funfetti Cake, Fall Decorating and Flannel Dresses

Okay, so now that the secrets out and I’m not doing Whole30 with Ian, I have to share that I have been craving bagels and sweets almost uncontrollably, which I never ever usually want. In fact, we went out late one night and picked up stuff to make a funfetti cake because I couldn’t stop thinking about it. I feel a teeny bit bad that I have been eating all this food in front of Ian, but he’s had one or two cheat days since we started so he’s gotten in on the funfetti fun. I am really hoping to get the…

It’s a….(Gender Reveal)

Ian and I are so excited for two scoops of sweet baby boys! That’s right, we are having a little boy! My heart is so excited to see Cove have a little brother so close in age to him, and I am so happy God wanted me to be a boy mom. Boys just steal your hearts and do they love their mama’s. It’s so funny to think that this girly girl who thought she would grow up to have the all little girls will now never have tutus and princess tea time, but a house full of little men.…

Head In The Clouds

It took about 9-10 weeks for the news of our new arrival to sink in. Not because we weren’t excited, but I think we were just surprised and it felt a little surreal. We had our second appointment about a week ago and since the baby was hiding a bit, we couldn’t hear it’s heartbeat on the doppler. We got to have a little ultrasound and for some reason, in that moment, it all sunk in. I could see their little hands moving by their head and that heart beat we heard at our first appointment was still loud and clear. We…

How to Survive the Grocery Store With a Toddler

I have to admit, we have been using Kroger ClickList way more than we actually go to the grocery store, but sometimes you just have to walk around Target. Am I Right? And we probably go to Costco about once every three weeks to get a lot of our bulk goods and almost all of our meat. So while the drive-thru grocery store concept is still my favorite, going to the grocery store is still inevitable. I thought I would share five tips for surviving the grocery store with minimal breakdowns. *Also, I am going to point out, it…

We’re Having A Baby!

That’s right! We are so blessed and thankful for the gift of another sweet baby. Cove is finally coming around to the idea that the baby is in my belly and not his, but it was pretty cute for him to lift up his shirt and point to his stomach when we asked ‘where the baby is?’ I guess you could say it was a bit of a surprise, but an answer to prayers too. I won’t go into the long of it, but I had some health issues that led me to believe it wasn’t in the cards for…

Baking Together | Lemon Butter Cookies

I am truly not a great baker. I love the idea of baking, but I am a much better cook than baker. But, baking with other people is so much fun. Cove has finally gotten to the age where he loves to help in the kitchen. He usually is more helpful when it comes to helping us load and unload the dishwasher and organizing the Tupperware, hah. If I am making something and have some extra time, I try to include him as much as possible. I think it’s so important for all kids to learn how to work and…

Losing My Identity and Perfectionism All at Once

Some people walk into motherhood gracefully as if they were playing the harp in a long formal gown, I on the other hand, walked into it like a 2nd grader blowing random notes into a recorder clutzing around the house.  My life pre-baby was a great deal different. Hair curled, outfit pressed and hot coffee in tow, I would head to my full time job as a Marketing Director. As my Type A personality led me, outfits were planned, pillows were perfectly fluffed and my day planner was always organized. When we lost our first, I learned to relinquish some of the…

Savannah for Twenty Four Hours

On our way to the beach, we decided to extend our trip 1 day and do a quick trip to Savannah to break up the drive. Ian and I have been to Savannah before, but we had never brought Cove and thought it would be fun to wander the city with him. It was incredibly hot, and Georgia humidity really doesn’t help. But we made the most of it and stopped for cold treats several times. Savannah’s history and Spanish moss make it one of the most quaint and charming of places. We love that it’s a walking city and you…

Palms to Pines | Tips on Long Car Rides with Toddlers

We’ve had our fair share of long car rides this year. From traveling across half of Canada to our quick trip to the beach. We’ve learned a few tips on surviving the long trek of pavement with as few breakdowns as possible.   Snacks – The more the better. I shared with you guys two days ago about healthy snacking on the go. Snacks are a life saver and keep everyone happy and full. I usually like to take some regular and dried fruit, healthy protein bars and organic snacks / crackers. I also try to stick with individual snack bags too…

Healthy Feeding On The Go with b.box

I’ve written about traveling with a baby before, but feeding on the go is something I haven’t shared much about. Although we love to take lots of day trips and travel, it’s important to me that we don’t sacrifice our health. This is especially true for Cove. I’m not saying he doesn’t eat crackers and the occasional french fries, but I want to make sure he’s got a balanced diet and plenty of healthy foods. Since having a baby, I always like to stay somewhere that has a kitchen. We bring our own snacks and some breakfast foods from home. Things…

Potty Training | Here We Go

Scared. Ready. Excited. Anxious. All feelings describing the thought of potty training. I think every parent dreams of that day when they won’t have to change diapers and we are in the beginning stages. Ian and I both decided we weren’t going to push anything on Cove, but since there were some signs that Cove was ready, we thought we’d give it a go. It’s still really early for us, considering he isn’t even two yet, but I heard that there was a gap around 18-20 months where some kids are ready, so we thought we’d give it a try. It…
