Cove Birth Video

Some moments you wish you could relive, and while nothing will capture them like experiencing it in person, this video brings me back to December 5 every time I watch it. We shared Cove’s birth story here, but I wanted to make a little video with the footage we took to remember the day. His one and two month videos are up next and I can’t wait to put them together for you to see. He’s grown so much. Music: Lowercase Noises – Passage

Milk Snob

I can hardly believe that Cove is already two months old. The past nine weeks have flown by. He has got some serious smiles going on and has been so much fun. I am sure that every stage just gets sweeter and sweeter. Since winter can make us a little stir crazy, we take every semi-warm day as an opportunity to take walks and have coffee dates. Cove absolutely loves walks and even gets a little upset when we sit still for too long.

A Few Things on Being a New Mom

Those sweet little hands and twinkling eyes had me wrecked from the moment I laid eyes on them. I had no idea what I was in for. I guess that’s what the nine months of planning and growing is supposed to prepare you for. But just like people tell you, everything is different… Not only will your whole life be different, but you will be different. I completely anticipated for life to change. I knew that grocery bills would now include diapers, wipes and all sorts of itty bitty baby products. I knew that things like going to the store…

First Snow

We are barely a month into 2016 and we’ve already experienced a snow day, and this time it was extra special. It was Cove’s first snow day! I can’t say he was too impressed. Every time a snowflake hit his face he would cry, but he was very warm and comfortable in his snow bear outfit once we got inside. I can’t say I blame him though, I would rather be at the beach in 70 degree weather and sun any day. Whether he liked it or not, it is so much fun to experience it with him for the first time. It…

Neighborhood Strolls

I have been dying to get out and take a stroll with our little guy, but it has been absolutely freezing. So when the weather warmed up to 50-60 degrees, we had to take a stroll around the neighborhood to get some sunlight before dinner. We had a blast getting Cove in his little bear outfit and wrapping him up in the Solly Wrap. I have to say, wrapping him up in the wrap made me feel like he was in my belly again and it was pretty amazing. I wasn’t sure if he would like it or not, but he…

Cove Patrick | One Month

I cannot believe my baby boy is one month old. Was it not just yesterday that I was bringing this little guy home from the hospital? So much has changed in four short weeks. We finally got the hang of eating. He is sleeping 4-6 hours at night, which is so huge for us! And during the day he is so alert and loves playing on his safari mat. One of my favorite things that he does is wrap his tiny little hands around my fingers and squeeze when he’s being sweet. He did it the moment I held him for…

Cove Patrick | One Week | Newborn Photos

Who knew there could be so much love and how much truth the Psalms ring –  Psalms 127:3-5 Behold, children are a heritage from the LORD, the fruit of the womb a reward. Like arrows in the hand of a warrior are the children of one’s youth. Blessed is the man who fills his quiver with them! He shall not be put to shame when he speaks with his enemies in the gate. Our little guy is one week old and my heart is just so full. I have fallen more in love with my husband than I thought humanly possible. He has taken such good care of me and…

Cove Patrick: Birth Story

It was so hard to pick out only a few* (okay, not necessarily a few, but I tried) photos from the day Cove took his first breath. Friday, I had gone into work and was delivering Christmas presents. My mom and sister had come along with me considering I was almost 39 weeks pregnant and driving was pretty uncomfortable at this point. While we were out, I started contracting pretty badly but they were only twenty minutes apart. By lunch time I was feeling pretty miserable so we made an appointment with the OB to see what was going on.…

Christmas Tree Traditions | 38 Week Update

It is my favorite time of the year. The weeks leading up to Christmas! Thanksgiving, hot cocoa, fires and the smell of pine, Christmas parties, yummy holiday desserts, all the decorating… the list could go on forever. For the past three years that Ian and I have been married, we have always had faux trees. A LOT of fake trees. Four to be exact. Our house would turn into a snow globe of glitter, ornaments and garland. This year, with a little one on the way, we decided to scale it back and simplify. At first, I was really disappointed,…

36 Week Update

Its been a while since I’ve shared an update with you. Things have so busy and we’ve been having so much fun celebrating fall. For Halloween, I dressed up as a walking emoji due to the fact that I am a walking ball of hormones. I even dressed Chuck up as my side-kick. The next week, my best friends hosted the most beautiful baby shower for me. It was so beautiful, in fact, that I cried the entire time…literally, the entire time. I was just overwhelmed with all the love people have shown to our family. The following week, Ian…

Cove’s Nursery Reveal

Decorating Cove’s nursery was so much fun for us. We knew that we wanted a space that was full of the things that we love with a west coast modern feel. I love white walls and bright spaces, so keeping things simple and minimalistic was also really important. Overall, we are very happy with how it turned out, and I can’t wait to add a little boy and his personality to it as he grows!

Pumpkin Patch | 31 Weeks

There is so much to love about fall. It’s Ian’s favorite time of year. He turns into the happiest guy around when he gets to wear flannel, make fires and eat chili. He has no complaints when it comes to trampling around at a pumpkin patch to take photos with our friends, and I absolutely love him for it. It is such a fun season for us, not just because it’s fall, but because we get to become parents with some of our best friends. I have so many sweet friends that are raising babies along side me, and it…

Styles Van Allen Newborn Shoot

When this little baby came in the world my heart just exploded. Ian and I had been praying for him for a long time and when we finally held him, it was just the most amazing miracle. You can probably tell we just adore the Allens from our shoots of them here and here. Oh, and our epic adventure of California with them last year here. Styles Van is destined to do big things for the Lord. I mean, with a name like that, how could he not. He is just so handsome and I am so honored to watch…

Seacrest Beach | Baby Moon | 28-29 Week Update

Earlier this year, we decided we would go to the beach in September to celebrate and be together during the time our baby we lost was due. It just so happens, that the Lord blessed us with another child due in December of this year, so we decided to celebrate our baby moon at the same time. Usually during vacations we are moving a lot and trying to experience everything each city has to offer, so we knew a beach trip would help us stop moving and really relax and spend time alone together. And it was exactly what we…

My baby should have been born today…

No one can prepare you for loss. Everyone experiences it differently. As the weeks and months passed from the time we lost our first child, I felt like there was literally a hole in my heart and body from the loss. In April, we found out we were expecting another baby. A lot of people asked me if the hole was filled after I got pregnant again. Some would make comments about how we must feel better now that we got pregnant again so fast. But my hole did not fill from the desire to carry and have a child here…

26 Week Update | Date Day

26 weeks means just 14 to go! I can’t believe we are to the point where we are counting down the weeks until he gets here instead of counting up the weeks of pregnancy. We did some renovations to our upstairs this past week, but so far everything has gone really smoothly. It feels really good to have every project we wanted done before Cove’s arrival! Now for some rest and relaxation. Ian also surprised me this week with an early push present. I mean seriously, what kind of guy gets his wife a push present when she hasn’t even…
