A Moment Captured For A Lifetime

Photography is something our family holds very close. It’s something we enjoy doing together and most of all, it captures moments and memories that we never want to forget. Over the past six years, we’ve worked on refining our style and implementing some of those captures into our home. You guys may remember I shared last year about our special beach trip with Cove – you can read it…

Print of Your Heart

About three years ago, Ian and I decided not to purchase each other Christmas presents. I say that, but usually every time we say we’re not going to get each other presents, Ian still is so sweet and picks me up something beautiful or makes something beyond what I could have ever wanted. That year, in true Ian fashion, he gave me a Christmas present about a week before Christmas. He made wooden frames and burned things he loved about me on the the bottom of each one. He then had square prints from Social Print Studio printed with some of…

Capture Your Heart | Parabo Press + Free Square Prints for Everyone

Ian is usually a pretty easy guy to buy for. He has a wishlist he adds things to every time he sees something he likes. Every now and then, I love to surprise him with something different and more personal. Until Cove gets old enough to pick out his own gifts for us, Ian and I help him a bit. I went for printed photography because Ian loves to take pictures of our family and always says that it’s his version of a journal to keep track of the good and bad days. We may not post them all on…

Thoughts on Things: Current Favorites and Forgotten Photos

The other day I was scrolling through photos on my phone, and I realized I had never shared these photos with you all. I am still all googly eyed over my boys in their cute matching ties from ZUZU. We took these on Valentine’s Day after church and Cove did not want to sit still, as you can probably tell. I love these pictures of the two of them together. You can see so much similarities in their eyes. Also, what are your thoughts on the nineties trends coming back so quick? I had to admit it brought back nostalgia of grade school…

Quality Time | Jord Wood Watches

Mother’s Day is right around the corner, and I am loving our new traditions we’ve started as a family of three. We spend time with both of our mothers and Cove’s grandmothers the day before Mother’s Day and then we take Sunday as a day for our immediate family to spend time together. This past year was my first year celebrating Mother’s day with Cove and Ian really went above and beyond to make the day special for me. I know he is going to do a wonderful job teaching Cove how you love and respect your mother (not just…

Easter Recap

Easter weekend was about one of the most fun holidays we’ve had since Cove was born. He is getting to a really fun stage as he is learning new ideas and concepts. Things were on steroids a little bit considering there were a total of three egg hunts, but we had a great time celebrating with our church and both sides of our family. We also discovered that his love for crackers and dark chocolate runs deeps. There were some hiding in his eggs instead of candy, and he would stop hunting eggs so he could eat could just sit down…

We’re Live! Shop til’ You Drop

I’ve been itching to share this all with everyone for so long! Today we’ve officially launched The Southern Trunk shop, along with a nice little site upgrade! We’ve been dreaming and working on this space for months, and are so happy to finally share it with everyone. When I was a little kid, instead of playing with Barbies and other toys, I begged my mom for a sketch book. I started designing clothing and outfits. Going into middle school, my parents bought me my first sewing machine so I could make the clothing I had designed. One problem. I failed miserably. I…

All Day Kiss Proof and Thoughts From The Heart

Its not quite warm enough to pull out my shorts yet, but I have pulled out all my spring tops and floral pieces. I figured if my backyard is blooming, it’s acceptable. With the weather being chilly in the mornings but warming up in the day, my favorite trend is to wear a lighter peasant top and throw an oversized cardigan over it for when the temps are lower. I fell in love with this adorable key hole top, which is lightweight and has the perfect colored pattern, paired with these super comfy suede booties from Guilty Soles. Im sure…

Pieces with Meaning

Daylight Savings is one of my favorite days of the year. No joke. I don’t even care that we loose an hour of sleep because I am so pumped for a later sunset. One of my favorite things to do every spring / summer day is sit on the back porch and watch the sunset. And if I don’t get to be outside, I open up all the blinds and watch it as I cook and eat dinner. The other day we spent the afternoon in Chattanooga right at golden hour. It was stunning to see the sun set over the…

Nashville and Birthday Musings

This past weekend I turned 26 and got to spend the weekend roaming around Nashville with my love to celebrate my birthday and our anniversary. I have to say, I felt super spoiled and loved on by so many. I really appreciate all your kind words, messages and thoughts. This year has probably been one of the first birthday’s I haven’t been super thrilled about turning another year older. I wanted to be 25 forever. (cue all the laughs) Now that I have gradually started accepting the fact I am in my late twenties, I am embracing more and more that…

Let’s Be Honest Mamas

Before I had a baby, I was really unsure of whether I would stay home with him / her or not. I’m a big advocate for encouraging mothers, no matter what they decide to do, because being a mama is already hard enough without all the unnecessary guilt others like to impose. We all have different circumstances, challenges and struggles. When we had Cove, I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to decide for myself whether I wanted to stay at home or not, and after returning from maternity leave (to the most amazing job, which I loved), I felt…

A Little Book Goes A Long Way

In my mind, every year is a year for the books. Whether it is the best year of our lives or we’ve been to hell and back, each year is one of growing, shaping and celebration. After all, we aren’t promised tomorrow. Every day we have here counts. With that in mind, Ian and I have always done yearly photo books. We love to take pictures. We are so grateful we enjoy documenting things all the time because it is so great to look back and remember seasons and specific memories we shared with each other. In the past it has…

The Stephens Part IV

If you have been with us for a whille, you may have seen the Stephens on our blog. We have loved growing with their family over the years. Brent is the lead pastor of our church, Four Points Church. Last year, we took their family photos on our church land with huge bulldozers and trucks after they broke ground. This year, as a testament to God’s faithfulness, we took their photos in front of the completed building.

The Bateman Family

I love getting to photograph families more than once, so it was such a treat to be able to capture the Bateman family for the second time this year. You may remember their sweet little newborn Mackenzie. She’s so beautiful with such a vibrant and happy personality now. And you can see why. Her parents are a stunning couple with beauty inside and out. I hope you enjoy their images!

Why We Chose To Travel With Our Baby

After we left San Diego, we spent a day driving up the coast to Malibu. Traffic was a beast, and when you’ve got a baby crying in the backseat, it can make things feel ten times worse. After an hour or two, we made it to El Matador Beach. I fell in love with this place when we went to Malibu two years ago, so I knew it would lift everyone’s spirits that day. It was overcast, but the sun started peaking through the clouds when we got there, which made it even more magical. Cove was so happy and kept…
