If you have been around for a while, you know how passionate I am about supporting small businesses. I’ve always been about supporting the local and their hearts and hard work. And I can say from personal experience how much joy it brings small businesses when people support and shop from them. It never get’s old. The internet has made it so much easier for you to be able to support these local businesses and makers and even from the comfort of your own home.

This year, we didn’t do a big Christmas. We tried to keep gifts small and meaningful and we have tried to shop small whenever possible. Actually, more than half our gifts have come from small businesses, and that makes me so happy to say! While in the process of shopping this year, I came across a shop called Homestead Seattle and fell in love. They collect one of a kind piece and have the most darling Airbnb home they rent out. They have a great eye and beautiful one-of-a-kind pieces which they are always adding to the shop. Plus, as you can tell I am a big fan of husband/wife teams, so that aspect of their business made me even more in love. I’ve been doing some shopping for Ian’s office renovations in the basement and found this rust mud cloth which I couldn’t help but snag for our living room. I have been a big fan of mud cloth for a while, but haven’t seen one in this rust color until now. It really pulls the terracotta/rust/gold tones out of our Colca West Elm Rug and I thought it brought some more color to the room.

The process was so simple because of PayPal’s One Touch which allows you to pay for items without having to enter all your information. I can’t stand when I am about to check out and realize I have to go down the stairs or across the house to get my credit card information out. (I know that is a first world problem and no I do not have my card memorized) Anyways, it’s super convenient and PayPal offers return shipping refunds up to $30 in return shipping cost per order. (Up to twelve orders per the calendar year). Which is brilliant, especially if you are buying for someone else and may need the option to return it.

If you still have a few items you need to pick up this season, I encourage you to shop small businesses and help your local economy.

Have a great one! xx
