Print of Your Heart

About three years ago, Ian and I decided not to purchase each other Christmas presents. I say that, but usually every time we say we’re not going to get each other presents, Ian still is so sweet and picks me up something beautiful or makes something beyond what I could have ever wanted. That year, in true Ian fashion, he gave me a Christmas present about a week before Christmas. He made wooden frames and burned things he loved about me on the the bottom of each one. He then had square prints from Social Print Studio printed with some of his favorite memories with me. I mean… wow. I love that he’s always been so intentional and personal with his gifts. I guess you could say my love of SPS started then. I loved the quality of the prints and how well made they are. Plus, their company has the BEST customer service and sweetest employees. We’ve ordered from them quite a bit over the years and we usually like to pick up some extra new prints whenever we take…

Banff | Canada Travels Part IV

I am finally wrapping up our Canada travels with you all! It’s only taken me an entire month since we’ve been home. Banff was one of those places I could go back to over and over again and still be in awe. Every single place you go there is so much beauty. I would love to see and experience it all in every season. You may have checked in on some of our past Canada travel posts Victoria – Whistler, Whistler – Revelstoke, and Johnston Canyo – Canmore, and saw that Canada had an abnormally cold winter this past year. I feel a little ridiculous there are so many posts on Canada, but it was just one of those places you couldn’t fit everything into one. Normally, most of the lakes would have been completely thawed by the end of May, but this year they were still partially frozen. Since we had already seen Lake Louise during the complete white out snow storm, we decided to see some other things in Banff first and then come back. I highly…

Forever Keeps

I know I am generally a sappy person, but kids will do that to you. I find myself going through pictures while Cove is asleep wandering how time slipped by us so quickly. Now that it’s summer, I honestly feel like he and I have grown even closer. It might sound silly because we’ve been together since he was in my womb, but we’ve connected and laughed together, cried together and he’s so much more cognitive. It hasn’t come without its challenges though… We’ve experienced the terrible twos so much earlier than I anticipated. I guess that’s the thing about parenting – once you think you’ve got one thing figured out, you get thrown a curve ball and you’re learning how to deal with something new. I’ve really been trying to write down quick notes on my phone of things going on, happy or sad, that I want to remember. I may start a little series on here like Thoughts On Things. We’ll see… But for now, here are 10 things I want to forever keep and remember. Every morning…

Whistler – Revelstoke – Lake Louise | Canada Travels Part II

I hope you aren’t tired of Canada pics yet, because I have so many more exciting places to share with you all. After spending some time in Whistler, which you can read about here, we headed east down the Trans Canada Highway for a pretty amazing road trip to Canmore/Banff. We drove about 19 hours in the course of two days with tons of stopping for pictures, lunch and stretching our legs. I will be completely real with you though, road trips with toddlers are tough. We brought lots of snacks, games and pulled out the iPad pretty frequently. Even though it was tough, the views we’re so worth it. We were lucky enough to have our rental car upgraded to a larger SUV, which made for an incredibly spacious and comfortable ride. And even better, it didn’t have me as nervous when we we’re driving through some of the snow and crazy curves… It didn’t take much for Ian to throw the car into four-wheel drive… The scarier the driving environment, the more excited / adventurous he gets! On our…

Victoria-Whistler, British Columbia | Canada Travels Part I

I don’t know if we’re crazy or what, but we decided to take a cross-country Canadian road trip with a toddler. We had been really wanting to visit Alberta for a while. My dad was born there and Ian wanted to see Banff and the Canadian rockies. We also wanted to visit my grandparents and introduce them to Cove for the first time. They live in Victoria, British Columbia. So instead of taking multiple trips, we decided to make a big road trip out of it! I wasn’t sure how it would all work, but we sat down one day and made a plan, giving ourselves plenty of extra time for stops and such with a little one. We flew into Vancouver and took the ferry to Victoria to visit with family. Ian and I visited Victoria when we we’re first pregnant with Cove and that’s when Ian got to meet my grandparents for the first time. You can see more from that trip here. We had a great day with my family and I could have cried with happiness to have my dad…

Sunny Day Essentials And Why They Are So Important To Our Family

Sunny days are pretty much the best thing at our house. We love being outside, by the pool or the ocean all day long if possible. I’m so ready to take Cove to the beach and pool this year. Last year he really just splashed around, but now he’ll be able to run through it and we’ll get to teach him how to swim. We’ve got a few trips planned already, and I have already started counting down. I might even have a bag open with clothes in it, haha. Last year, we had a pretty big scare at the pool. We had applied sunscreen to Cove before heading out the door and by the time we got there he had huge red splotches all over his face and his eye was really swollen. We had applied what we thought was a natural sunscreen, but turns out had tons of chemicals in it which reacted poorly with his skin. From then on out, I’ve really done my homework on the kinds of products we use on and around Cove. I tried…

Snacks on Snacks on Snacks

I hope you all are having a great week! We stole some time away from home and work to visit the lake with some friends. We had such a restful weekend, even though Cove partied so hard he didn’t want to sleep at night… It was amazing how even with little to no sleep, you can still feel rested by just being in a different environment. I have been working really hard to keep an open mind every time we travel with Cove. Things can be really unpredictable, so it’s so much better to have a good perspective going into it or your expectations will let you down every time something doesn’t go as planned. The past few trips we’ve taken have really helped with it. Traveling and day trips are one of our favorite hobbies so it’s been great to see Cove adapt and learn to love it too. Snacks can be your best friend when you are traveling with a toddler. When we’re on the road with Cove, sometimes we have to pull over to stretch our legs and fill…

Take A Pizza My Heart Now Baby

I am all about easy meals we can enjoy together as a family that are still fresh and not processed. Last week we were in need of a fun family date, but instead of going out, we stayed home and made pizzas together. We made two different kinds all with fresh ingredients. I didn’t make the dough, but you can find the recipe to do so here. Sometimes time isn’t always on our side, so I’ll usually pick some up from the bakery section at Publix. They have great dough, made fresh every day. We decided to do a traditional margherita style pizza and a pepperoni pizza with fresh pepperoni from the deli (let me tell ya, it totally makes a difference). I used to buy the prepackaged pepperonis, but buying them sliced from the deli is so much better. Cove had a great time helping me make the pizzas. I thought he would really love smashing the dough, but he preferred to eat and spread the cheese way more. This Complete Grate & Slice Set from OXO was so helpful for shredding our…

One In One Out

Some days you have to just pack up the car and get out of the house. We love spending time in our home, but when it’s 70 degrees, sunny and still winter, you need to get outside and enjoy the weather. We are really lucky to live near a large lake and being by the water (our favorite being the ocean) is so peaceful for us. Cove loves to pick up sticks and rocks and just walk around making new friends, so it’s really a lot of fun for all of us. I packed our Turkish Towel from Bali Market and a few snacks so we could have a picnic while we were there. I first came across Turkish towels with my mom. She uses them instead of regular towels because they are a flat weave instead of a loop weave, making them super compact and absorbent. I always loved hers and how they looked in her bathroom, so I was excited when I cam across Bali Market. I love how you can use it in so many different ways – as a blanket,…

The Stephens Part IV

If you have been with us for a whille, you may have seen the Stephens on our blog. We have loved growing with their family over the years. Brent is the lead pastor of our church, Four Points Church. Last year, we took their family photos on our church land with huge bulldozers and trucks after they broke ground. This year, as a testament to God’s faithfulness, we took their photos in front of the completed building.

The Genslers

When Megan asked us to take their family’s holiday photos at their home, I was so excited. They had just recently moved in their beautiful new house and we were so looking forward to capturing images there. Britton (who might I say is the cutest little prince charming you’ve ever seen) will be a year old this January. He loved the camera and was so much fun to follow around. Jordan and Megan are such a beautiful couple and you can see how much they love their little guy!

The Richardsons

You can’t quite get more photogenic than this family! They could have all walked out of some ad in a magazine. We were so honored to take their photos and the weather was absolutely perfect for this Red Top Mountain shoot. As you can see from the photos, we all had a blast playing around and capturing images.
