A Little Life Update | Basement Renovations + 17 Weeks & More

It’s been a little while since I shared what’s going on with us, so I thought I would give a little update for those who are interested. I’m sure you’ve picked up on little tidbits here and there, but we’re currently in the process of renovating part of the basement – OURSELVES. Well, when I say “ourselves”, Ian has been doing all of the work and I’ve just been doing my part here and there… Basically, moral support and bringing snacks, ha. We decided with the second baby on the way, and Ian working from home a few days a week,…

Can we have a pumpkin patch in our backyard?

One of my favorite traditions every year is to go to the pumpkin patch. We started doing it before we had children, and now it’s even more fun watching Cove want every kind of pumpkin they have! You can see years past here and here. This past weekend we found a new pumpkin patch to visit that had farm animals, hay rides, bounce houses, ice cream / snacks, and lots of pumpkins varieties. I love the Fairytale and Casperia pumpkin ones, so it was just perfect. Cove had so much fun this year and wanted to take all the pumpkins…

Fair Family Date Night

This past weekend we went on a little impromptu family date night to the Fair here in North Georgia. I wasn’t sure if Cove would like it or not, but Ian and I hadn’t been in years and the funnel cakes were calling our name. We had such a blast! Cove found this fun, huge organ that played carnival-like music and we ate in front of it while he danced around. We got up and danced with him like crazy people. He would stop long enough to eat a bite and then keep dancing. The fair was a lot bigger…

A Moment Captured For A Lifetime

*This post was sponsored by Framebridge. All opinions are my own. Affiliate links are included in this post, I’ll be compensated if someone clicks on an affiliate link and makes a purchase. Photography is something our family holds very close. It’s something we enjoy doing together and most of all, it captures moments and memories that we never want to forget. Over the past six years, we’ve worked on refining our style and implementing some of those captures into our home. You guys may remember I shared last year about our special beach trip with Cove – you can read it…

We’re Having A Baby!

That’s right! We are so blessed and thankful for the gift of another sweet baby. Cove is finally coming around to the idea that the baby is in my belly and not his, but it was pretty cute for him to lift up his shirt and point to his stomach when we asked ‘where the baby is?’ I guess you could say it was a bit of a surprise, but an answer to prayers too. I won’t go into the long of it, but I had some health issues that led me to believe it wasn’t in the cards for…

Baking Together | Lemon Butter Cookies

I am truly not a great baker. I love the idea of baking, but I am a much better cook than baker. But, baking with other people is so much fun. Cove has finally gotten to the age where he loves to help in the kitchen. He usually is more helpful when it comes to helping us load and unload the dishwasher and organizing the Tupperware, hah. If I am making something and have some extra time, I try to include him as much as possible. I think it’s so important for all kids to learn how to work and…

Savannah for Twenty Four Hours

On our way to the beach, we decided to extend our trip 1 day and do a quick trip to Savannah to break up the drive. Ian and I have been to Savannah before, but we had never brought Cove and thought it would be fun to wander the city with him. It was incredibly hot, and Georgia humidity really doesn’t help. But we made the most of it and stopped for cold treats several times. Savannah’s history and Spanish moss make it one of the most quaint and charming of places. We love that it’s a walking city and you…

Healthy Feeding On The Go with b.box

I’ve written about traveling with a baby before, but feeding on the go is something I haven’t shared much about. Although we love to take lots of day trips and travel, it’s important to me that we don’t sacrifice our health. This is especially true for Cove. I’m not saying he doesn’t eat crackers and the occasional french fries, but I want to make sure he’s got a balanced diet and plenty of healthy foods. Since having a baby, I always like to stay somewhere that has a kitchen. We bring our own snacks and some breakfast foods from home. Things…

Print of Your Heart

About three years ago, Ian and I decided not to purchase each other Christmas presents. I say that, but usually every time we say we’re not going to get each other presents, Ian still is so sweet and picks me up something beautiful or makes something beyond what I could have ever wanted. That year, in true Ian fashion, he gave me a Christmas present about a week before Christmas. He made wooden frames and burned things he loved about me on the the bottom of each one. He then had square prints from Social Print Studio printed with some of…

Banff | Canada Travels Part IV

I am finally wrapping up our Canada travels with you all! It’s only taken me an entire month since we’ve been home. Banff was one of those places I could go back to over and over again and still be in awe. Every single place you go there is so much beauty. I would love to see and experience it all in every season. You may have checked in on some of our past Canada travel posts Victoria – Whistler, Whistler – Revelstoke, and Johnston Canyo – Canmore, and saw that Canada had an abnormally cold winter this past…

Forever Keeps

I know I am generally a sappy person, but kids will do that to you. I find myself going through pictures while Cove is asleep wandering how time slipped by us so quickly. Now that it’s summer, I honestly feel like he and I have grown even closer. It might sound silly because we’ve been together since he was in my womb, but we’ve connected and laughed together, cried together and he’s so much more cognitive. It hasn’t come without its challenges though… We’ve experienced the terrible twos so much earlier than I anticipated. I guess that’s the thing about…

Whistler – Revelstoke – Lake Louise | Canada Travels Part II

I hope you aren’t tired of Canada pics yet, because I have so many more exciting places to share with you all. After spending some time in Whistler, which you can read about here, we headed east down the Trans Canada Highway for a pretty amazing road trip to Canmore/Banff. We drove about 19 hours in the course of two days with tons of stopping for pictures, lunch and stretching our legs. I will be completely real with you though, road trips with toddlers are tough. We brought lots of snacks, games and pulled out the iPad pretty frequently. Even though…

Victoria-Whistler, British Columbia | Canada Travels Part I

I don’t know if we’re crazy or what, but we decided to take a cross-country Canadian road trip with a toddler. We had been really wanting to visit Alberta for a while. My dad was born there and Ian wanted to see Banff and the Canadian rockies. We also wanted to visit my grandparents and introduce them to Cove for the first time. They live in Victoria, British Columbia. So instead of taking multiple trips, we decided to make a big road trip out of it! I wasn’t sure how it would all work, but we sat down one day and…

Sunny Day Essentials And Why They Are So Important To Our Family

Sunny days are pretty much the best thing at our house. We love being outside, by the pool or the ocean all day long if possible. I’m so ready to take Cove to the beach and pool this year. Last year he really just splashed around, but now he’ll be able to run through it and we’ll get to teach him how to swim. We’ve got a few trips planned already, and I have already started counting down. I might even have a bag open with clothes in it, haha. Last year, we had a pretty big scare at the pool.…

Snacks on Snacks on Snacks

I hope you all are having a great week! We stole some time away from home and work to visit the lake with some friends. We had such a restful weekend, even though Cove partied so hard he didn’t want to sleep at night… It was amazing how even with little to no sleep, you can still feel rested by just being in a different environment. I have been working really hard to keep an open mind every time we travel with Cove. Things can be really unpredictable, so it’s so much better to have a good perspective going into it…

Take A Pizza My Heart Now Baby

I am all about easy meals we can enjoy together as a family that are still fresh and not processed. Last week we were in need of a fun family date, but instead of going out, we stayed home and made pizzas together. We made two different kinds all with fresh ingredients. I didn’t make the dough, but you can find the recipe to do so here. Sometimes time isn’t always on our side, so I’ll usually pick some up from the bakery section at Publix. They have great dough, made fresh every day. We decided to do a traditional margherita style…
