Being Comfortable In Your Own Skin or Shoes

I was the first girl to wear gauchos to school even when the boys made fun of me, I’ve rocked hot pink lipstick and I was never afraid to go introduce myself to someone, but motherhood, that was a completely different story. I felt so much insecurity. I wasn’t sure what I was doing, and then when I did start doing something I had people tell me I wasn’t doing it right, and my kid isn’t even two yet! I’ve come a long way since those first few months of newborn-ness wore off and the hormones subsided, and I’ve grown comfortable in my own skin as a mother, wife, friend, and who I am in general. Don’t get me wrong, I definitely have my moments of insecurity, considering I am terrible at awkward silences and will say things to fill the void, often leaving myself face palming in the car later, but I’m really working on breaking that habit. One of the things that helped me jump over that motherhood insecurity was one when I was eating at Chick-fil-a (big…

Rest, Dreams Come True and Priorities

Sorry… I’m about to get sappy. Looking through these pictures has me so incredibly thankful. Three years ago, Ian and I sat on the beach talking about how one day we will have littles running around while we sat in the sand. We talked about the memories we’d make, how different our time and energy would be spent, and how we we’re hopeful we would be blessed with that family we’d dreamed about. We’ve traveled quite a bit with Cove already, but relaxing at the beach brought all those memories back from those conversations we had a few years ago. This trip has been exactly what we needed. It seems like right before every vacation, everything seems to get crazy and Ian has to work crazy hours all the way up to the day before we leave. By the time the vacation actually gets here, we’re so ready for it and the hustle to get there makes everything worth it. So far, we’ve napped, played, swam, baked in the sun, ate our hearts out, and made some incredible memories together.…

Summer Date Night | Five Summer Date Night Ideas

I know school is about to start back soon here in the south, but summer is still around for a while. We’ve had a lot of rain this summer. It makes for very humid days but incredible sunsets. I’ve always joked with Ian that I am a cheap date. It really doesn’t take a lot to impress me. Just quality time and good food. One of my favorite date nights this summer was when we went to a local seafood restaurant that we both love. They have the best salmon and parmesan truffle fries. We skipped dessert and headed to the ice cream store because dark chocolate ice cream is my favorite desert, and Ian is the best and takes me to all the places he knows I will enjoy. Then we headed to the lake by our house to watch the sunset. We had the camera in the car already, so Ian snapped a few of these. I loved how pink the sun made the water look. I thought it might be fun to share some date night ideas for…

My Everyday Hair & Beauty Products

I feel a little bit funny writing this post because I am in no way a beauty or makeup artist. In fact, I think I probably do the bare minimum when it comes to beauty. If you are anything like me and only give maybe 5-10 minutes on your beauty regime in the morning, then you may be interested in reading about my favorite products. When it comes to hair and makeup I always believe you should be working towards effortless and natural more than trying to achieve a look that transforms you into someone else. Beauty products should be to enhance your natural beauty and be fun, not something we feel like we have to live by or for. HAIR I probably spend the majority of time on my hair everyday. I have naturally fine hair, but I have a lot of it. Because it’s so fine it falls heavy around my face. I don’t wash it everyday, so dry shampoo is a lifesaver and keeps my hair from looking greasy and gives it some texture. Eva NYC Freshen Up Dry…

Casual Friday | Dainty Piece Edition

You may be able to tell from the photos above that our house is pretty out of sorts. There is stuff on the counter. The pillows are un-fluffed. We are in casual attire. But that’s okay. I’m really working hard to make this space beautiful but authentic too. And sometimes our life just isn’t all that glamorous. It’s perfect in its own way to me. I kind of love that everyday feeling where stuff is lying around that we’re using, blankets out of sort on the couch and half drunk coffee cups. The house just feels lived in. Just like I love a pair of lived-in jeans or a well-worn tee, I love the kind of jewelry you can wear every day. I’ve always been a fan of dainty pieces. I usually wear some sort of dainty necklace every single day plus an assortment of stacking rings. I will often layer them even more based on the kind of top I am wearing. I think what I love most about dainty jewelry is that it usually is personalized or has some meaning to…

Chill Frills

Happy Monday, friends! You all know how much I love a good deal, so I wanted to share a little gem I recently discovered. This striped wrap blouse and ruffle top are both under $25! I have been working to step up my top game. I feel like I always gravitate towards comfy tees and graphics (which I still love), but I’m working to create a little bit of diversity in my wardrobe. I received both of the tops above from this shop. I feel in the past some similar shops have gotten a bad rap and as with most stores, there are always pros and cons. One of my favorite things about this shop in particular is everything is super reasonable. You can get some of the hottest trends for a fraction of the price. The downside here, being we live in the world of Amazon Prime and orders are here in 2 days, the pieces take a while to actually get to you. Considering it’s shipping from overseas, I think it’s to be expected. I suggest to always always always read the reviews, especially…

LBD Summer Edition

Hey, friends! I hope you had an amazing Fourth of July weekend. We kept it pretty chill around here and just watched some fireworks and grilled out. Cove was obsessed with the sparklers and had a meltdown when they were all out burnt out, ha. I’ve never been one to follow “style” rules – white in summer, black in winter. I typically just wear whatever color I want, no matter what time of year, and try to coordinate it appropriately. Because black looks so good when you have a nice tan. I personally think little black dresses are appropriate year round and make for an easy date night outfit. The dress I’m wearing above (linked below) is made from super lightweight material and has pockets. If, you aren’t a fan of black in the summer, they also have it in white and yellow. I paired it with these shoes, which I mentioned last week. They are so comfortable, and go with everything. They’re also 20% off right now. I wore them with a pair of distressed jeans and a tee…

Maxis, Studded Flats, Layered Jewelry & Splurge or Save Talk

Happy Wednesday, friends! It has been a great week so far… There haven’t been many errands to run, so it’s nice having lazy summer days where we take our time in the morning, go to the pool visit with friends and take long naps. Somehow, we always end up in the back yard with Cove running through the sprinklers and Ian and I eating on the back deck. It’s been kind of perfect, if I am being honest. I posted the above dress on Instagram a while ago, and got a lot of comments on where to find it. You can shop my exact one below or here. It’s super comfy, has pockets and is perfect with a little cami-slip underneath. I paired it with this sandals from Callisto of California, which you can shop below or here. The gold studs on them are my favorite and the camel color goes with everything. I also received this pair of block heels from them, and I am so excited to wear them out to dinner when we go to the beach next month. They are so perfect…

Thoughts on Things: Social Media Babies, Hands Free Fashion and Trends I Love

So one of my sweet friends on Instagram shared a post on social media babies and how this will be the first generation to ever grow up with cameras in their face at all time and every single part of their lives being documented on iPhones and often through social media. To be honest, it’s something I’ve given a lot of thought to and Ian and I have talked about before. We have a few friends who don’t share about their children at all on social media, no photos at all, and others who document bare booties and glorious details of real life and the moments in between. I personally don’t think either is wrong, because each of us have our own ideas of what parenting should look like and ideas of how we should be raising our kids. I am sure social media will affect our children, just like it’s affected us, if we are all being completely honest here. For some of us, it’s impacted us in a completely positive way. Some have built businesses, met friends, created a digital journal their…

Quality over Quantity | The Style Edition

It would be embarrassing if you stepped into my closet about three years ago. My shelves were bending in the middle from the amount of clothing hanging on them. Most of it were things I never wore, and a good bit of them still had the tags. I was born and raised a bargain shopper, and because of that I learned the habit of buying things because they were a great deal and not necessarily because I wanted or needed them. After purging my closet multiple times the past few years, I vowed to myself and to Ian to only buy something I really loved. And even more so, to only buy things that we’re going to last me a long time. Since then, my closet has definitely moved in the right direction. I get emotionally attached to clothes for some reason, so some stuff I still have just because it’s hard for me to part with. I’ll call it nostalgia. But overall, I have done a better job at keeping my closet to pieces I wear, pieces I love…

Feeling Floral | Dress That Hides Taco Bumps

It’s been a minute since I’ve shared an outfit post with you. I’ve been so excited to start dressing for summer and probably pulled out my sandals way too early. This year, instead of going for items that are just fashionable, I have been trying hard to only buy and wear things that fit our lifestyle. Surprisingly, it doesn’t mean I have to dress boring. It just means pulling together outfits more intentionally. Instead of just buying something because it’s cute, I’m asking myself will it fit comfortably when we’re out, will I be able to wear it multiple ways and is it going to be super hard to clean when I get PB&J on it. Just being real here. I got a few pieces from Love Winnie James and have been so happy with them. This dress was one of them. The material is so light weight and gauze-like and it can be dressed up or down depending on where you’re headed. I was really excited because I wore it to date night and I didn’t have to worry about my…

Mother’s Day Recap

This past weekend my boys spoiled me well. Saturday and Sunday they let me sleep in, brought me a card with the cutest little otter on them (this meme is my favorite and I literally said, ‘I Made Dis’ when Cove was born), and took me out for a day of doing whatever I wanted. I opted for a park date and dinner with a little shopping in between, of course. The slow and relaxed days with them are my favorite. Nothing too fancy, just quality time. Ian’s currently building my Mother’s Day present so I’ll show you guys that later. I received the sweetest necklace from Reagan over at Henri Lou and loved the sterling and turquoise accents. I have been mixing dainty gold and silver jewelry for a while now, especially my rings, so I thought it would be fun to try a silver necklace. Most of mine are gold, so it’s been fun to switch things out here and there. For some reason, this necklace reminds me of the desert and the ocean both together and I…

Stir Crazy & Bellabeat

This past week was a tough one in the realm of health issues for our family. We were wiped out and didn’t leave the house for a few days, but when we finally started to feel better, we decided some fresh air was what the doctor ordered. I tend to get extremely stir crazy after about one day stuck at home, so I was really crazy at this point. Please tell me I am not the only one like that? We headed to the lake/park to walk around and it definitely helped lift our spirits. Cove loves throwing rocks in the water and was really into the ducks this time. He was screaming “DUCKS!” chasing after them. I was cracking up. Next time we go back, I will have to bring some bread to the lake with me to make it up to all the ducks who were scared to death of the toddler chasing them around. I wanted to share with you guys about this fun new fitness tracker made for women. I have never been a huge fan of…

Step Into Spring

Happy Wednesday! I hope everyone is doing well! We’ve been soaking up spring ever since it started. This past weekend we visited friends in Chattanooga and it honestly felt like summer. We walked around the downtown art district and across the walking bridge, which Cove absolutely loved. I’m a huge fan our how Chattanooga is an active and walking city. So many people were out walking, riding bikes and playing in Coolidge Park. We will definitely be back soon to take Cove to the aquarium. Although spring means lots of pastels and cool colors, I still love wearing neutral and my go-to black and white. I love this fun and flowy top from PinkBlush. They have some amazing spring tops and dresses. The white floral pattern still makes it springy and light. I dressed it down a little with some distressed jeans and paired it with these lace-up flats from Guilty Soles. What kind of plans do you have for spring? I would love to hear what kind of spring traditions you have.

On-The-Go | JJ Cole

Now that the weather is warm enough to be outside all day, we’ve been on the go ever since. The zoo, the park, the lake…. We are naturally on-the-go people. Even as a kid, my mom said I would go stir-crazy if I was at our house all day long, and I think Cove inherited that from me. Since marrying Ian, I have learned to slow down a bit, but we still all love to be outside together. This past week, we headed to a downtown square near us to walk around, pick some wildflowers and grab a snow cone. When it’s 85 degrees, the weather is just screaming for some rainbow shaved ice. We had so much fun window shopping and running around together. I recently got the Arrington Diaper Bag by JJ Cole. Honestly, I have never had a diaper bag. We just used inserts in different bags and backpacks. I was really interested to try it out. Sine switching over, I have LOVED having all the room and separate sections for “momma” things vs. “baby” things. With 3…

Lavender Love | Giveaway

I’m so over the moon it’s spring. I’m even more excited to experience it all with Cove this year. Easter, planting in the yard, strawberry picking and all the other fun things that come with spring time. This past week we were outside pretty much every day, all day. I started clearing out our flower beds and planted a few rose bushes, along with some other plants, to fill it up before we mulched. This year, my mom bought me another lavender bush to go with the the smaller one I bought from Pikes. I’m slightly obsessed with lavender… We use the lavender essential oil in our house daily and now that I have the fresh stuff everywhere in our garden, we’ll be spreading that around too. I fell in love with this flowy top from PinkBlush when I saw it. The delicate details and lavender color were perfect for spring. PinkBlush has some amazing new items for this season. I picked up this top, a long sleeveless tunic, and another dress I’ll be sharing with you guys very soon for Easter. You may…
