Thoughts on Things: Managing Time, Sand and a Few of My Current Favorites

I normally feel like I am pretty good at managing time. I’m type A and make lists for everything. It’s probably a little OCD, but as of late, I’ve really been struggling. It feels like the days go by so fast and my lists never get done. I try to be really intentional about my time with family, so some things definitely get put on the back burner, but it still feels like time is moving way to fast to completely everything I need to. I would love some suggestions for those of you who manage a bunch of different things like jobs, kids, family and other priorities, and how you do it without letting things slip through the cracks. Hoping it’s just a season, because I hate laying my head on the pillow knowing that the list keeps growing. When we took the above pictures, Cove was having a big issue with the sand. He loves the water, but he’s really funny about textures. As soon as it got in his sandals he had a major melt-down and we had…

One In One Out

Some days you have to just pack up the car and get out of the house. We love spending time in our home, but when it’s 70 degrees, sunny and still winter, you need to get outside and enjoy the weather. We are really lucky to live near a large lake and being by the water (our favorite being the ocean) is so peaceful for us. Cove loves to pick up sticks and rocks and just walk around making new friends, so it’s really a lot of fun for all of us. I packed our Turkish Towel from Bali Market and a few snacks so we could have a picnic while we were there. I first came across Turkish towels with my mom. She uses them instead of regular towels because they are a flat weave instead of a loop weave, making them super compact and absorbent. I always loved hers and how they looked in her bathroom, so I was excited when I cam across Bali Market. I love how you can use it in so many different ways – as a blanket,…

Mini Road Trips and Our Top Car Seat Picks

I honestly believe that fresh air and being outside can change your entire mood. Now that the weather is cooling down, we will be outside a lot more than just the evenings. This past weekend, we packed up the car and headed just north of our house to visit the lake. We didn’t have a lot of time since we had obligations that night, but just sitting by the water really calmed all three of us. One of the quickest ways to calm Cove when he is fussy is to strap him in the stroller and just take him outside for a bit. He gets so quiet and just soaks up every little detail the great outdoors has to offer. Visiting bodies of water mesmerizes him even mmore. We popped the trunk of the Volvo and just sat in the back seat sippin’ on coffee and watching the boats in the water. It’s so good for the soul sometimes to just pull off on the side of the road and take a minute to be still with one another. Life can be…

Lake Nights

We’ve taken to being outdoors a whole lot more than usual. I am not sure if it’s because I am surrounded by boys, or if its the fact that being outside makes your feel so good. Vitamin D and lots of beautiful things to look at and explore. After grabbing a bite on Friday night, we decided to head to the lake for a quick stroll before Cove’s bedtime. He can’t even crawl, but he’s just itching to get out of our arms and explore. Since I know it’s only a matter of time before he will, I’m keeping him close and totally embracing baby wearing.
