Valentine’s Day Looks Day to Night and the Alternative Date Night

Valentine’s Day is quickly approaching, and for those of you who haven’t gotten your significant other a gift, I’m sorry, but this isn’t a gift guide. I really do love Valentine’s, but not because of all the typical hype. I’m not lying when I say that it is like Valentine’s day year round in my house. Ian has always treated me like a princess, still opens every car door for me and brings me flowers just because. I am super excited though because this is my second Valentine’s day with Cove. I feel so lucky to have two Valentine’s now. This year I wanted to give everyone a few alternatives to the fancy dinner and overpriced bouquets, and let you in on how we celebrate. I am also sharing an easy day-to-night outfit to transition the day.

Thoughts on Things | Our Country, Telanti Gelato and Maker’s Market

1.  My heart has been so heavy lately with the events that have occurred in our nation. Broken for many brothers and sisters who fear for their lives. Broken for the world my son will grow up in. Broken for the darkness that seems so loud. But, there is a beautiful promise and hope we have. Hope in His word, His life and His love. 2 Chronicles – “if my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land.” May we humble ourselves. May we love our brothers and sisters. May God heal our land. 2. I’ve recently tried some fun summer recipes and I am no chef by any means, but I have really enjoyed coming up with healthy and fun recipes for our family. I am going to share some of my favorites with you all soon! But in the meantime, if you have something yummy, light and healthy you love…

Michael + Amanda | Roswell, Georgia Wedding

It was a beautiful day. Seventy degrees and sunny, in early March! As if we even needed the sun. Michael and Amanda’s love was off the charts romantic and so steamy. Wandering through downtown Roswell with this couple was like walking around with celebrities. We had the best time celebrating their love and the covenant of marriage.

The greatest gift I’ve ever given

Baby dedication is so much more to me than formal gowns and rehearsed prayers. It always has been. Before I had even met Ian, I remember crying with my hands stretched out towards the families during dedications at church. I knew then how much it needed to be celebrated that these families were giving their babies’ lives to Christ. I never quite knew how much it would impact me until I had a child of my own. When Ian and I first decided we wanted a baby, I would pray daily for our children. Months went by as we tried to conceive, (and for those who may be struggling with fertility issues or who have faced that battle know the pain,) I would cry and pray as Hannah prayed in 1 Samuel, that God would bless us with a child to raise. Then in January 2015, He did. But what I didn’t realize, is that I would give that child back to the Lord much sooner than I expected. In February 2015, we gave Shiloh back to the Lord. For those of…

Ireland | Cliffs of Moher and Dunquin

The cliffs of Ireland were one of my favorite parts of our whole trip to Ireland. They were absolutely breathtaking. We were shocked at how beautiful the weather was when we visited. We had expected lots of clouds and rain, but instead it was sunny and warm and you cold see the cliffs so clearly. I could have sat and looked out over the water for hours. As we were driving, you could see sheep and cows right on the edge of the cliffs. Beautiful farm homes looked over the water and the grass was incredibly lush everywhere you looked.

Matt + Lauren Engaged

We had a ton of fun with Matt and Lauren Saturday morning in Conyers. They are both super sweet people and were very easy going in the 90 degree weather! There were a ton of great places to take pictures because the park they chose was full of so much natural beauty. Enjoy the photos from their shoot!

Our Love Story

If you don’t like sappy posts, I wouldn’t scroll any further… It is hard to share our love story without sharing how we first met. Circa 2006, Ian was playing in a christian rock band that would often come and play at my school for chapel. I remember sitting in the bleachers in the gym auditorium watching them play. My friends were all drooling over the lead singer and guitarist, while I was too focused on how cute the drummer was, shaggy hair and all. I loved how he sang with every song, and was so passionate about his music. I guess you could call this the first time we met. We became Facebook friends shortly after… although Ian really doesn’t remember this as much as I do.  And both of us went on with our lives. We both dated a few people here and there, but our paths never crossed. Three years later, I got a message on Facebook from Ian. It basically shared that he was deleting a bunch of friends off his Facebook page and he couldn’t…

Tybee Island and Savannah – The Beauty of Love as it Ages

This past year was an unbelievably beautiful reminder of what love looks like as it ages. My parents and in-laws celebrated 25 years of marriage and my grandparents celebrated 60 years! If that is not a expression that love can last longer than the statistics show, then I don’t know what is. To celebrate my grandparents and their love, my family decided to rent a house in Tybee Island to visit the beach and Savannah, GA for the weekend. Having three generations of love all under one roof for the weekend was such a great reminder of God’s love for us and his plan for marriage.   (photo credit to my beautiful sister, Brianna Westland, for capturing this shot) It was better than any fairytale to watch my grandparents hold hands and walk to the edge of the water. One of the days we were there, we visited downtown Savannah. It is such a quaint and historic town. Every street has some gorgeous building or elegant fountain. We ate lunch at Paula Deen’s restaurant Lady and Sons, per my grandmothers request.…
