About three years ago, Ian and I decided not to purchase each other Christmas presents. I say that, but usually every time we say we’re not going to get each other presents, Ian still is so sweet and picks me up something beautiful or makes something beyond what I could have ever wanted. That year, in true Ian fashion, he gave me a Christmas present about a week before Christmas. He made wooden frames and burned things he loved about me on the the bottom of each one. He then had square prints from Social Print Studio printed with some of his favorite memories with me. I mean… wow. I love that he’s always been so intentional and personal with his gifts. I guess you could say my love of SPS started then. I loved the quality of the prints and how well made they are. Plus, their company has the BEST customer service and sweetest employees. We’ve ordered from them quite a bit over the years and we usually like to pick up some extra new prints whenever we take…
If you have been with us for a whille, you may have seen the Stephens on our blog. We have loved growing with their family over the years. Brent is the lead pastor of our church, Four Points Church. Last year, we took their family photos on our church land with huge bulldozers and trucks after they broke ground. This year, as a testament to God’s faithfulness, we took their photos in front of the completed building.
One of my favorite things about lifestyle sessions is getting to peek into someone’s life at home. Capturing those intimate moments that are part of their daily routine are important memories and seasons that people cherish forever. Spending time in Cassandra’s home with her was such a relaxing and fun experience. Sharing our favorite music, books and insane love for breakfast was really great. I hope you enjoy taking a quick look into what home looks like for her.
Something I never really understood until I became a photographer was the effort and process it takes to be a photographer. On the outside, it’s easy right? “Smile!” [click] [click] done. With that, there’s not much guidance out there on how to effectively and enjoyably work with clients and photographers. We put together some quick tips, based on our experiences as photographers, to help shed some light on this subject and hopefully make your next photo session an experience you’ll always treasure, along with the images.
“We take photos as a return ticket to a moment otherwise gone.” Our family takes a lot of pictures. Not because we like seeing ourselves plastered all over the place, but because pictures are memories for me. I have never really journaled until more recently, and in a lot of ways, I think it was because photos were a journal for me. I could look at a photo and tell you exactly how I was feeling or what I was going through or experiencing at that exact moment. I find myself frequently going through old photos, reminiscing about those memories we made together as a family – good ones and even bad ones.
I could not share these images without sharing a little background on these beautiful babies. I cannot tell this story without crying. I met Abbi and Caleb in my freshman English class in college. They were this adorable high school sweetheart couple who always had smiles on their faces. Fast forward six years later… They got married and Caleb was finishing law school at UGA. I had just lost our first baby, and decided to share publicly what I was going through on The Southern Trunk. I had no idea how God would use my situation to bring so many beautiful ladies into my circle, but I am so grateful He did. Abbi sent me an email after reading my blog, and we both started praying for each other and the similar journeys we were on. Both of us longed for motherhood. After months of praying, I received a text from Abbi telling me that her and Caleb had the opportunity to adopt two beautiful twin babies and that they were going to be parents. Praise God! Not only did…
I cannot believe my baby boy is one month old. Was it not just yesterday that I was bringing this little guy home from the hospital? So much has changed in four short weeks. We finally got the hang of eating. He is sleeping 4-6 hours at night, which is so huge for us! And during the day he is so alert and loves playing on his safari mat. One of my favorite things that he does is wrap his tiny little hands around my fingers and squeeze when he’s being sweet. He did it the moment I held him for the first time, and I imagine that its him telling me he loves me now. It’s been so fun to watch him focus in on things and look up at you with those sweet little heart eyes. It has been a life changing month, but I am so incredibly grateful to be called his mother.
It’s that time of year where our door post is lined with photos of our loved ones. Christmas Card Season! My favorite. I am hoping ours actually make it to mailboxes before Christmas this year. We had the most perfect distraction arrive right in the middle of the holidays. Since I am all curled up with the sweetest little babe, I will make this short and sweet:) Here are a few photos from the Allen’s Christmas card shoot!
We just absolutely love this family and have really enjoyed seeing their family grow over the past year. Sawyer was born this summer and he is just a doll. He is so relaxed and has the sweetest grins and growls when he is flirting. After a week of rain, it was incredibly sunny the morning we went to take their photos (oh, and really really cold). We actually went to the same spot that Scott and Lily took their engagement photos four years ago, so it was a special place for their family. I hope you enjoy the images from this beautiful family’s session!
You may have seen the Stephens family on our blog before. They are a very special family to us and Brent is the pastor of our church, Four Points Church. This year we had the honor of shooting their family on our church land. After years of prayer, the church is finally breaking ground and has started building, and hopefully it will be done in the Spring of 2016. I hope you enjoy these fun family photos!
Well, I can’t say things around here have been comfortable, but they sure have been exciting. We are only two months away from having our little guy make his grand appearance! With a growing baby you have all sorts of weird things happening to your body, and mine has been tripping me out a bit lately. I can’t complain though. Our little guy is moving away and healthy in there and that’s what matters. This is all just preparation for the many sacrifices I know I’ll be making as a mother. When you think about it that way, it’s beautiful and you have to have those good vibes. This weekend was the perfect fall weekend. The weather was cool and Ian and I had some time to just be home together and cozy up with some comfort food and pumpkin chocolate chip cookies. It was also the perfect time to pull out my Mulberry Press Co. “Good Vibes Only” sweatshirt. I have a few items from Mulberry Press Co., and they all are pretty much staples in my wardrobe now. My “hustlin’…
It was such an honor to be able to shoot baby Ezra just two short weeks after we shot his maternity shoot with his parents, which you can check out here: The Gustavsons. Ezra was the sweetest little baby with a gorgeous head full of hair. I loved seeing his big brother and sister love on him. Nathan and Megan are incredible parents, and they make a beautiful family of five now. Here are some of the images we captured of them last week.
One of the reasons we love taking photos of couples and families is because there’s always so much joy in their interactions with each other. With Will and Whitney, there was a lot of laughter, kissing and cuddling. You can see the love from these newlyweds in every shot below. Enjoy!
