Step Into Spring

Happy Wednesday! I hope everyone is doing well! We’ve been soaking up spring ever since it started. This past weekend we visited friends in Chattanooga and it honestly felt like summer. We walked around the downtown art district and across the walking bridge, which Cove absolutely loved. I’m a huge fan our how Chattanooga is an active and walking city. So many people were out walking, riding bikes and playing in Coolidge Park. We will definitely be back soon to take Cove to the aquarium. Although spring means lots of pastels and cool colors, I still love wearing neutral and my go-to black and white. I love this fun and flowy top from PinkBlush. They have some amazing spring tops and dresses. The white floral pattern still makes it springy and light. I dressed it down a little with some distressed jeans and paired it with these lace-up flats from Guilty Soles. What kind of plans do you have for spring? I would love to hear what kind of spring traditions you have.

On-The-Go | JJ Cole

Now that the weather is warm enough to be outside all day, we’ve been on the go ever since. The zoo, the park, the lake…. We are naturally on-the-go people. Even as a kid, my mom said I would go stir-crazy if I was at our house all day long, and I think Cove inherited that from me. Since marrying Ian, I have learned to slow down a bit, but we still all love to be outside together. This past week, we headed to a downtown square near us to walk around, pick some wildflowers and grab a snow cone. When it’s 85 degrees, the weather is just screaming for some rainbow shaved ice. We had so much fun window shopping and running around together. I recently got the Arrington Diaper Bag by JJ Cole. Honestly, I have never had a diaper bag. We just used inserts in different bags and backpacks. I was really interested to try it out. Sine switching over, I have LOVED having all the room and separate sections for “momma” things vs. “baby” things. With 3…

Lavender Love | Giveaway

I’m so over the moon it’s spring. I’m even more excited to experience it all with Cove this year. Easter, planting in the yard, strawberry picking and all the other fun things that come with spring time. This past week we were outside pretty much every day, all day. I started clearing out our flower beds and planted a few rose bushes, along with some other plants, to fill it up before we mulched. This year, my mom bought me another lavender bush to go with the the smaller one I bought from Pikes. I’m slightly obsessed with lavender… We use the lavender essential oil in our house daily and now that I have the fresh stuff everywhere in our garden, we’ll be spreading that around too. I fell in love with this flowy top from PinkBlush when I saw it. The delicate details and lavender color were perfect for spring. PinkBlush has some amazing new items for this season. I picked up this top, a long sleeveless tunic, and another dress I’ll be sharing with you guys very soon for Easter. You may…

Pieces with Meaning

Daylight Savings is one of my favorite days of the year. No joke. I don’t even care that we loose an hour of sleep because I am so pumped for a later sunset. One of my favorite things to do every spring / summer day is sit on the back porch and watch the sunset. And if I don’t get to be outside, I open up all the blinds and watch it as I cook and eat dinner. The other day we spent the afternoon in Chattanooga right at golden hour. It was stunning to see the sun set over the water and all the golden light it shed over the art district. With spring approaching, I decided to pull together a lighter look with some white jeans. This chambray top has some of the cutest details and is super flowy so you don’t have to worry about what you eat for dinner. WIN! My necklace was made by my girl Dee at Dee Ruel. You may remember one of her pieces from this look last summer. She is a fabulous…

Not So Basic and Busy Bee’s Change of Mind

This past week was so busy, and I often don’t know how time flies by so fast. We did squeeze some time in to go out as a family and be together just the three of us before Cove’s bedtime. I never like complaining about things being busy because I’ve realized they always will be. At least until we retire, and even then I don’t know if we’ll want to slow down. I also don’t want to live in a state of mind where I’m always drained and complaining about things being busy. You know those people, every time you ask them how they are doing they say “busy” with that low moan in there voice. Even if I respond “we’re busy”, I hope it’s with a smile, because I’m blessed to have a family, job and activities to make it that way. I want to accept things as they come and make time for what’s really important, even if there’s a lot of other things to get done. I recently had the opportunity to try some outfits from Kestan. I’ve…

3 Things To Ask Yourself Before You Buy Something

Anyone else guilty of buying things you know will sit in your closet for the next 5 years until you finally purge? Okay, glad that’s not just me. I started really trying hard to get rid of one thing every time I buy something new, but I also started asking myself three things before I buy something. Is it comfortable? If its not, we all know I won’t wear it. Mom attire doesn’t call for scratchy and it certainly doesn’t call for me pulling and adjusting things all day. I am so much happier when my clothes are comfortable. Don’t we always pull those pieces out first to wear too? Is it me or is it just what’s in style right now? Please tell me you’ve been there with me. Those shoes that were so in style one minute and then in a season they were already collecting dust in your closet. I’ve been guilty of it, but I am really working to only buy pieces that fit ‘my’ style and what I love to wear. Will I wear it more…

Real Life Ramblings

Don’t let the squares and rolling feeds of fancy photos and curated content fool you. We all know pictures rarely capture the realness of what everyday life looks like. Is anyone else a little tired of the over critical and anxiety around social media lately? If someone only posts pretty pictures they are “fake” or “surface-y.” If they post too much “real-ness” they are oversharing or their accounts just aren’t pretty. Who cares? Let people be. Let the space be a place to create, for people to be genuine, for people to share the happy moments or the sad moments, or for some people – all the moments in between. I love that social media is a place for people to keep a journal of their lives, to share the highlights, to encourage one another and to post the things we want to post. The best part is, no one is making you follow anyone. We get to choose who we want in our spaces and what we want to share. When we take those pictures and post too seriously we…

The Happy Things

It’s officially the love month and my birthday month! We’ve got a lot going on but I’m looking forward to all of it. If you’ve been following along with me on Instagram, you may have seen that two years ago at the beginning of February we were in the emergency room finding out that our first baby’s heart had stopped beating. A year ago I was struggling with postpartum and unsure of how to handle it without taking any medication, and three years ago we were dealing with some pretty heavy family illnesses and I was basically sick the entire month. I say all of that not to throw myself a pity party, but to let you know that this month I’m really going into it with a heart of openness instead of fear that it will be like years past. I recently read a book called Hope Heals about a family that’s gone through more than I could possibly imagine and way worse than any of my problems compare. I wanted to share one of the quotes that really…
